Welcome to Laredo Middle School, home of the Lions. I am so honored to be principal of this incredible school. As I enter my 21st
year in Cherry Creek School District and my 9th
year in administration, I am excited to meet each of you and begin a new school year. This year marks our 40th
Anniversary, Our Ruby Celebration, and we are excited to celebrate our accomplishments with our community.
Through the hard work and dedication of our staff and the support of our parent community, Laredo is proud to be the only International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP) and AVID Demonstration School in the District. We at Laredo strive to provide our students with an education that is
"Globally Sound, College and Career Bound".
Through MYP, we encourage our students to make connections between what they learn in school with the real world. Our goal is for our students to gain a global perspective and develop the qualities of being inquirers, thinkers, principled, risk-takers, communicators, reflective, balanced, knowledgeable, open-minded, and caring. Our AVID program helps our students become college and career ready by providing them with academic tools such as writing to learn, inquiry, collaboration, organizational skills, and critical reading.
In addition to focusing on our students’ academic needs, we focus on the social-emotional well-being of our students through PRIDE by expecting all members of our community to be Principled, Respectful, Inclusive, Determined, and Empathetic. We focus on positive behaviors and hope all of our students are a "part of the PRIDE".
I look forward to the collaborative partnership between students, staff, parents, and the community in order to support our objective of providing students with the best experience they can have during these middle school years. Whether you are a returning member or a new member of our Laredo Family, we welcome you and can’t wait to continue to celebrate your child’s successes.
Sincerely,
Edie Alvarez
Principal
