Student Cell Phone Guidelines & Agreement

Laredo students are expected to use all electronic communication devices (ECDs)  appropriately at school and in accordance with applicable Board Policy. ECDs include phones, headphones, computers, tablets, handheld game systems, etc. Students are responsible for the safekeeping of their devices. The school and district are not responsible for the loss or damage of personal property brought to school. Lost devices should be turned in or reported to our Security Team by the Main Entrance.

  • Cell phones and all mobile devices shall be turned off or in silent mode when entering the school building.
  • Cell phones and all mobile devices shall be kept in the student’s locker or backpack.  
  • Cell phones and other mobile devices are not to be used in classrooms, the Innovation Center, common areas, hallways, or restrooms.
  • Cell phones and other mobile devices are not to be used during transition times or passing periods.
  • If a student needs to make an emergency call during the day, they may ask their teacher to use a phone located in the classroom, the Main Office, the Attendance Office, the Counseling Center, or the Deans' Center.
  • Parents/guardians may call the Main Office at 720-886-5200 to relay urgent and important messages to students. If the message relates to different dismissal procedures, please call by 2:30 pm if at all possible.

If a student is found to have their phone or is using another mobile device, the consequences will be as follows: 

1st Offense 

  • The device will be placed in a locked bag and the student, at the teacher’s convenience, will deliver the device in the locked bag to the Deans' Center.
  • The device will be secured in the Deans' Center until the end of the school day.
  • The student will sign for and pick up the device at the end of the school day.
  • A parent/guardian will receive an email or phone call from the Deans' Center to notify the device has been placed in a secure bag and stored.

2nd Offense

  • The device will be placed in a locked bag and the student, at the teacher’s convenience, will deliver the device in the locked bag to the Deans' Center.
  • The device will be secured in the Deans' Center until the end of the school day.
  • The student will receive a discipline referral and the consequence as related to technology will be applied. 
  • The student will sign for and pick up the device at the end of the school day.
  • A parent/guardian will receive an email or phone call from the Deans' Center to notify the device has been placed in a secure bag and stored.

3rd Offense

  • The device will be placed in a locked bag and the student, at the teacher’s convenience, will deliver the device in the locked bag to the Deans' Center.
  • The device will be secured in the Deans' Center until the end of the school day.
  • The student will receive a discipline referral and the consequence as related to technology for a second offense will be applied. 
  • A parent will sign for and pick up the device at the end of the school day or at their convenience.
  • A parent/guardian will receive an email or phone call from the Deans' Center to notify the device has been placed in a secure bag and stored.
